Windows XP Elimination to Strengthen Data Security

Microsoft Windows XP as a computer operating system has had a long run of more than 10 years - a record holder. This unprecedented run will come to an end in April 8, 214 when Microsoft stops its support. Even before its end of life, Windows XP has a bigger problem here at Stanford in that it runs on old devices and it's not amenable to computer encryption. So time has come to eliminate this operating system from computers at Stanford.

This effort started long ago, in isolated pockets and in sporadic way. Now a concerted and strict initiative has begun with defined goal of completely eliminating XP at Stanford before its end of life.
