Setup a shared or group email account

Setup Shared Email account

 

  • Open your email program (Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird, etc….)
  • Select IMAP as protocol. Do not configure your email for POP.
  • Enter:

Name: Your Name or Group account name

Email address: Group email address

Account Type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: group-accounts.pobox.stanford.edu

Outgoing mail server: smtp.stanford.edu

User name: SunetID

IMAP path prefix/Root folder: Leave this blank

  • Click on More Settings:

 

In the General tab, enter the name of the Group account.

In the Outgoing Server tab check the box: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

In the Advanced tab, use SSL for incoming and outgoing server type of encrypted connections. Make sure you change the port number for the Outgoing server to 465.

  • Click OK and then Next to finish the configuration settings.
